Alex TriVantage Laser

The new Alexandrite TriVantage laser has dramatically expanded the ability to treat pigmented lesions and remove unwanted tattoos of all colors. This laser is safer than traditional methods because of its unique ability to selectively treat the tattoo or pigmented lesion while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. Another advantage of this particular Candela laser is the capability to treat tattoos or lesions that were previously treated by another modality, but perhaps were not effectively removed.

With this new Candela system patients will generally feel less pain and require less recovery time then many other treatment methods. After the treatment occurs, patients will experience temporary discoloration or reddening of the skin around the area. However, this system is specially designed to greatly reduce the potential for scarring or changes in texture, leaving you with normal, healthy looking skin.

What conditions are treated with the AlexTriVantage?

Dermal and epidermal pigmented lesions and tattoos (amateur and professional; multiple tattoo inks) are treated. The effectiveness of the laser is dependent upon the age, location, depth, and type of tattoo and pigmented lesions, as well as the composition of the pigments. Other skin discolorations may also be treated, such as age spots, birthmarks, freckles, and melasma, which is a skin condition presented with dark, irregular patches generally on a patient’s face.

Should certain precautions be taken after treatment?

Immediately following treatment, an ice pack may be applied to soothe the treated area. A topical antibiotic cream or ointment is recommended. Care should be taken in the first few days following treatment to avoid scrubbing the area, and abrasive skin cleansers should be avoided. A bandage or patch may help to prevent abrasion of the treated area. During the course of treatment it is recommended that patients cover the area with a sun block.

The full range of conditions AlexTriVantage can treat includes:

  • Benign pigmented lesions

  • Freckles, sun & age spots

  • Birthmarks

  • Nevus of Ota/Ito

  • Scars

  • Tattoos of all colors

LimeLight IPL Laser

The LimeLight IPL by Cutera is a state of the art Intense Pulsed Light device which is used to even out skin tone and effectively treat pigmentation and redness on the face, neck chest and body.

What is the LimeLight Facial?

The LimeLight Facial is a new, non-invasive approach to skin rejuvenation using Cutera’s LimeLight. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photo damage.

What areas can be treated?

The LimeLight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment.

What does the treatment do?

By selecting Program A, B or C, your practitioner can customize your LimeLight Facial to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. It’s the heating of the pigmented brown or red cells that causes the therapeutic effect.

What do treatments feel like?

When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. Gel is recommended to cool the skin before vascular treatments. Anesthesia or pain medicine is typically not required.

How long will the treatments take?

Treatment time depends on the area of the body being treated. However, most treatments should take less than 10 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sundamaged skin.

What happens after the treatment?

Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness.

When will I see results?

Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve.

Will the spots and redness reappear over time?

New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however they too can be treated.

Remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source, however its appearance can be improved.

  • Benign pigmented lesions

  • Freckles, sun & age spots

  • Birthmarks

  • Nevus of Ota/Ito

  • Scars

  • Tattoos of all colors

Cutera Pearl Fractional Laser

Pearl Fractional is a new, fractional, single treatment laser designed to improve imperfections due to aging and sun damage. Pearl Fractional offers the best combination of safety, patient experience and recovery time. Patients also notice a smoother, brighter complexion overall.

The Pearl Fractional Procedure

Pearl Fractional is a new, fractional, single treatment laser designed to improve imperfections due to aging and sun damage. Pearl Fractional offers the best combination of safety, patient experience and recovery time. Patients also notice a smoother, brighter complexion overall.

What does “fractional” mean? How does the Pearl Fractional treatment work?

Fractional therapy describes a treatment that affects only a fraction or small percentage of the skin. With Pearl Fractional, laser pulses treat damaged cells deep in the skin.

This fractional treatment selectively removes columns of tissue leaving surrounding skin intact. This treatment shortens healing time and stimulates the body’s own natural process for creating new collagen, plumping the skin from below and reversing photo aging and other imperfections. Tiny holes (the size of a pore) ensure maximum results in one treatment. Controlled energy means a more comfortable patient experience. Treatments are safe and effective with rapid recovery.

How many treatments are recommended?

Most patients will see signifi cant improvement after just one treatment.

Who is a candidate for a Pearl Fractional treatment?

Patients with light-to-medium skin tones and skin imperfections due to aging and sun damage will benefit from a Pearl Fractional treatment.

What areas of the face can be treated?

Pearl Fractional can treat the entire face and is uniquely effective in the delicate periorbital (around the eyes) and perioral (around the mouth) areas. These areas often show the first signs of aging and can be the most challenging to treat.

How does a Pearl Fractional treatment feel?

Most patients describe the treatment as a series of fast, hot pinches. A topical numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to treatment to alleviate some discomfort. Practitioners may choose to augment topical creams with other medications based on patient need.

When will I see results? How soon can I wear make-up?

Many patients see improvement one week after treatment. Maximum results are visible in one to three months. Patients may apply make-up five days after treatment.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after a Pearl Fractional treatment?

After treatment, the skin looks sunburned and may be slightly swollen. Patients report little or no discomfort post treatment. During post care, patients apply ointment to the skin for four to five days and should limit sun exposure and wear protective clothing.

Luxor CO2 Laser

The Luxor carbon dioxide (CO2) laser is a type of laser which emits an invisible infrared beam of light. Water in the skin absorbs this laser energy producing thermal damage and causing tissue destruction. The laser beam can be delivered in two ways. When the laser beam is delivered in short bursts, only the upper layers of the skin are destroyed. This causes the skin to be resurfaced, improving facial lines, sun damage, wrinkles and scarring.

Livingston Dermatology uses CO2 laser to improve texture and wrinkles under the eyes and around the month. When the laser beam is continuous, it may be used to treat warts, keloids enlarged sweet glands and other skin growths.

What results can I expect from the procedure?

Although laser surgery can be very effective, it has its limitations. The best results are seen in fair-skinned individuals. Patient variability makes it difficult to predict exact results with accuracy. Most patients are pleased with the results, but we cannot guarantee complete success in the treatment of a specific lesion or condition.

How does the skin look following laser resurfacing?

After treatment, the skin is usually pink to red in color and covered with a fine white crust which is left on to protect the healing skin. There may also be some oozing. Over the next couple of weeks, as the skin regenerates it will feel smooth. The reddish discoloration will remain for weeks or months before your skin returns to its normal color. Makeup can be applied as soon as the crust disappears.

Cutera Laser Genesis

Laser Genesis skin therapy is an innovative, technologically advanced way to promote vibrant and healthy looking skin in men and women. Now you can have a youthful appearance by treating those conditions that are typically associated with premature signs of aging and sun damage, such as excessive redness, large pores, uneven texture, and fine-line wrinkles. The Laser Genesis procedure has been scientifically proven to produce new collagen.

The Laser Genesis difference

The Laser Genesis procedure utilizes non-invasive laser technology to safely, discretely and effectively treat fine-line wrinkles, diffuse and excessive redness and help manage large pores, uneven skin texture, and scars. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel.

How does Laser Genesis work?

By gently heating the upper dermis well below your skin’s surface, Laser Genesis stimulates collagen regrowth. Additional heat is generated in dilated capillaries to reduce redness.

How many treatments will I need?

The treatment results are often subtle. On average, you may require four to six treatments in order to achieve optimal results. Every patient’s condition and needs vary. For more information about your expected results or the number of treatments necessary, consult your healthcare professional.

What are the possible side effects?

Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most common is a slight redness that disappears within a few hours of treatment. Consult your healthcare professional for complete information about the benefits and risks of treatment.

What kind of textural improvements can you expect with Laser Genesis skin therapy?

Over the course of four to five treatments, Laser Genesis can help restore the skin’s youthful glow and appearance by smoothing out uneven texture caused by aging, sun damage or scars. You will see a more even, healthy complexion as large pores are reduced in size, and minor imperfections are diminished. The individual treatment results are subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.
